German Skills grew out of a simple idea: learning German should be practical, personal, and connected to what you actually want to do with the language.
Some people want to feel more confident in everyday conversation. Others are preparing for work, travel, study, or a move to Germany. German Skills offers personalized German lessons in Burlington and online across Canada, with lessons built around your goals rather than a rigid, one size fits all program.
I focus on real communication, useful vocabulary, and the areas that matter most to you. Grammar is important, but it should support communication rather than become the entire lesson.
Felix Woehler
I am a native German speaker and German language instructor with professional experience in language education, adult learning, training, and international education in both Germany and Canada.
My academic background is in International Communication and Translation. I completed my studies in Germany in Internationale Fachkommunikation and earned the qualification Diplom Fachübersetzer (FH).
For many years, I owned and operated a private language school, where I worked with adult learners, international students, professionals, and people learning a language for a wide range of personal and professional reasons. Today, I also work in industry training and workforce development in Ontario.
What I enjoy most about teaching is understanding why someone wants to learn German and helping them become more comfortable actually using it. Some learners prefer structured lessons, while others want conversation practice, Business German, German for work, or practical language preparation for relocating to Germany. I adapt the lessons to the learner, rather than expecting every learner to follow exactly the same path.
I speak German, English, and Spanish, so I also understand first hand what it is like to learn and use another language in everyday life, at work, and in unfamiliar situations.
My goal is simple: to make German practical, relevant, and something you feel increasingly confident using.
